Book early: Why the best 2027 holidays are being booked now
If you want a particular suite, villa or sailing in 2027, the time to book is this winter, not next spring. Travellers at the top end are now planning 18 to 24 months ahead, and the reason is simple: the best places go first, and they do not come back.
Why people are booking earlier
New ships, new resorts and new suites are launched with limited availability. The people who book at launch get the choice of cabin, villa and dates. Everyone else takes what is left.
Cruise is a good example. Cunard reported that bookings from North America for its 2027 programme more than doubled on the year before, and that demand for its top suites rose by more than 100% over the same launch period. That is one cruise line's figures for one market, but it shows where affluent demand is heading.
The price argument
There is a second reason, and it is cost. Airlines kept 2026 fares down partly through fuel hedging, and that protection is wearing off during 2027. Ryanair has already warned that summer fares could rise materially if oil prices stay high. Booking now lets you fix what you can before any increases arrive.
Many clients now ask the same question: what can I lock in today? A package or cruise fare with a deposit fixes the price of the biggest part of the holiday, which is difficult to do later.
What to do next
- Decide your must-have. One thing: a particular ship, a villa with a pool, a week in the school holidays. Book that first.
- Pick your dates early. School holidays, bank holiday weeks and the summer peak sell out first.
- Choose protected bookings. A fully packaged trip carries more financial protection than separate flights and hotels. That matters if an airline fails.
- Talk to an adviser before you search online. Good cabins and villas are often held back and never reach the public sites.
