Montenegro
Montenegro feels like a place you stumble upon and instantly wonder how it’s stayed so under the radar. One moment you’re gazing out over the deep blue Adriatic, the next you’re surrounded by dramatic mountains that seem to rise straight from the sea.

Picture yourself getting lost in the winding stone streets of Kotor’s Old Town, with its history tucked into every corner, before looking out across the breathtaking bay. Then trade the coast for adventure with a hike through Durmitor National Park, where wild landscapes and fresh mountain air make you feel miles away from everything.
When it’s time to slow down, Budva’s sun-soaked beaches are the perfect place to unwind, while a visit to the tiny island church of Our Lady of the Rocks adds a touch of magic to your journey.
It’s the kind of destination where every day feels different — and every view stops you in your track.
Top Destinations & Experiences
Along the coast, Montenegro truly shines. Picture yourself wandering the atmospheric streets of Kotor, tucked within the breathtaking Bay of Kotor, before drifting over to the postcard-perfect village of Perast and its iconic island church, Our Lady of the Rocks.
Further along, the Budva Riviera brings a livelier energy — think sun-drenched beaches, buzzing nightlife, and a charming Old Town wrapped in ancient walls. For something more refined, Tivat and Luštica Bay offer sleek marinas, luxury resorts, and a laid-back, upscale feel.
And then there’s Sveti Stefan — perhaps Montenegro’s most iconic sight — a stunning island resort that’s best admired from afar (or indulged in, if you’re feeling extravagant).

Head inland and the scenery transforms completely. In Durmitor National Park, near Žabljak, you can hike through dramatic peaks, discover glacial lakes like the striking Black Lake, or even ski in winter.
For a dose of adrenaline, the Tara River Canyon — one of the deepest in Europe — is perfect for rafting and zip-lining through jaw-dropping scenery. If you’re after something quieter, Biogradska Gora National Park offers ancient forests and peaceful lakes, while Skadar Lake is a dream for nature lovers, with boat trips through lily-covered waters and incredible birdlife.
Montenegro’s culture is just as rich as its landscapes. Spend time in Cetinje, the historic royal capital, where museums and monasteries tell the story of the country’s past.
Nearby, Lipa Cave offers an easy and fascinating underground adventure filled with dramatic rock formations. And for a more local flavour, venture into the countryside to sample Montenegrin wines — often delicious, unpretentious, and wonderfully affordable.
When to Go

Getting Around
Getting around is easier than you might expect. Local buses connect most coastal towns, making it simple to explore without a car. For arrivals, Tivat Airport is closest to the coast and Bay of Kotor, while Podgorica Airport offers another convenient option.
Montenegro may be small, but it packs in an incredible variety of experiences — the kind where you can swim in the sea one day, hike in the mountains the next, and still feel like you’ve only scratched the surface.
